Here's a handful of shots taken around Famagusta. It's a fantastic place, full of history and atmosphere, and no matter how many times I visit the city, there's always something new to discover. From the moat, which is easily wide enough to accommodate a battleship, to the ancient city centre, a visit to Famagusta is an absolute must if you happen to come to Cyprus.

Around Bellapais and Kyrenia Harbour
These were taken at the end of February up at Bellapais Monastery just outside Kyrenia on the north coast of Cyprus, and later on at Kyrenia's scenic old harbor. Bellapais Monastery dates back to the late twelfth century, while the harbor at Kyrenia dates back to Roman times, but started to become what it is today during Venetian rule of the island in the 16th century.

Kantara Castle in North Cyprus
These shots were taken a few days ago at Kantara Castle in North Cyprus. As one of the three remaining crusader castles, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the island's deep and often bloodstained history.

This particular view looks out through one of the property's many archways, and across the courtyard towards the adjacent Omeriye mosque.
